MTN Afrinolly: Watch African Movies On Your Mobile Phones

Watch African movies on your Java phones, Android, Blackberry and more phones. It doesn’t matter if you have a Java phone now, you can watch African movies on your phone.

I woke up yesterday to hear the radio talking about an application that lets you watch trailers of movies produced in the African movie markets, most especially Nollywood and beyond (bollywood). I didn’t even know the radio station I was listening to. I was like, oh! I’ve heard about this application before when it won the Google Android Developer Challenge for Sub Saharan Africa in 2011 and won the cash prize of $25,000. Now it’s available on some other platforms too.

With this app on your phone, you get to watch African music videos, comedy online, Bollywood trailers and full length African movies on your mobile phones.

I have seen Afrinolly on a Nokia java phone now and I have it on my Blackberry as I write. Afrinolly also brings to you the latest news and gossip about movies, music and celebrities in Africa.

I have only used this app on Blackberry and I must say that the reading part is really great. Talking about the Video part, when you click to watch a trailer or music video, it opens the Blackberry native browser and asks you to switch to WAP from BIS. The implication of this is that you need to have credit on your phone or use Blackberry Enterprise Service to watch videos on MTN. Other than this, it is a great app to behold and use.

I haven’t tried it on other networks and phones at the time of posting this but I promise to do so as soon as I try them out.

As far as I am concerned, it is not available on the Blackberry phones if it is not going to work with BIS.
